Paul Klee Prints
Paul Klee Prints and Posters: Artist Paul Klee was born near Berne, Switzerland in December 1879. his father was a music teacher, and Klee was a talented musician from an early age. Initially he wanted to be a musician, but later decided to follow an artistic career instead, studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
Most famed for his penchant for 'Taking a line for a walk', Klee's paintings, like those of Wassily Kandinsky, were inspired by poetry, music and dreams, are an exploration of the artist's unconscious mind. To begin with, he specialised in etchings, but later in his career after a trip to Tunisia, he turned to watercolours in order to reflect the bright colours that had such a profound effect on him. As a member of the German Expressionist art group 'Der Blaue Reiter', Klee collaborated with artists Wassily Kandinsky, Alexei von Jawlensky and Lyonel Feininger. He went on to teach art at the famed Bauhaus Art School in Weimar, before being forced to flee Germany by the Nazis.
Paul Klee died in 1940 at the age of 60, leaving an impressive 8926 drawings and paintings. If you like our Klee Prints you might also be interested in our Wassily Kandinsky posters.
