Amedeo Modigliani Biography
Amedeo Modigliani was born in Livorno, Italy in 1884 to a poor Jewish family He was a talented artist from an early age, and his passion was indulged by his mother who took him to Florence to see the work of the Renaissance masters, and arranged for him to become an apprentice in an artist's studio on their return to Livorno. Later Modigliani moved to Paris, where he was strongly influenced by the work of Paul Cezanne. He was a prolific painter and sculptor, and his work has a destinctive, angular style, his nudes with their elongated faces bear witness to his passion for African carving and art. His most popular works can be purchased here including art prints 'Reclining Nude', 'Nudo Disteso' and 'Jeanne Hebuterne' Amadeo Modigliani died of tuberculosis at the young age of 35, closely followed by his beloved girl friend Jeanne Hebuterne, who was the model for many of his paintings, committed suicide.
