Ansel Adams Artist Biography - Ansel Adams is perhaps America's most celebrated Landscape photographer, best known for his wilderness scenes including classic photos Tetons and Snake River, Moon and Half Dome, El Capitan, Winter, Nevada Fall and Oak Tree - Sunrise. Ansel's images all share a share a distinctive simplicity, which makes small details from a landscape seem magical when viewed through the lens of his camera. Renowned for his images of America's beautiful national parks and the mid west, Adams love of the American wilderness led him to become an active crusader for environmental and conservation movements. He used his artistic photography skills to promote and help protect America's national parks including Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite, and Denali National Park in Alaska. Initially Ansel Adams trained as a concert pianist, but decided to follow is passion for photography after meeting Paul Strand.
