Matthew Daniels Artist Biography
Matthew Daniels was born in Buffalo, New York and has lived in New York city for over 30 years. He is proud to be a real 'New Yorker'. He calls his latest series of paintings 'New York Portraits'. There is a decorative flavour to his cityscapes and through the use of subdued tones he creates a feeling of nostalgia for a different era. Light dominates the compositions and a dense pattern of brushstrokes provides a sense of vitality in the dynamic metropolis. Although today he lives with his wife in Paris, he is frequently compelled to return to his home in midtown Manhattan to gather new inspiration.
